Happy International Women’s Day!!

Happy International Women’s Day!!

IWD is a once-a-year chance to remind governments, businesses and everyone else watching that women aren’t going anywhere, and we’re prepared to take action to achieve our human rights.

This year, the theme for International Women’s Day is Embrace Equity  #EmbraceEquity.

The International Women’s Day website says, “Equity isn’t just a nice-to-have, it’s a must-have.

Clean Cooking Is a Humanitarian Necessity

Cooking energy in humanitarian settings is particularly challenging as food preparation is a basic need and for many displaced people,  firewood is often the only available fuel option.

While most of the food that humanitarian agencies provide to displaced people must be cooked before it can be eaten, yet cookstoves and fuel are rarely provided.

As a result, many families rely on solid fuels such as firewood which create smoky fires that damage respiratory health.

Crisis-affected women must often walk for hours to find firewood and carry heavy loads back to camp, which puts them at risk for physical injury and attack.

The time spent collecting firewood also negatively affects women and girls’ ability to attend school and engage in income-generating activities.

Women in Energy and Economic Sustainability initiative is adding her voice in #Accelerating #Equality and #Empowerment in this crises affected communities by sensitising and donating clean cookstoves to the women and we are also reaching out to well meaning citizens to show empathy by donating 💙 to this crisis affected women and girls as we promote #Green, #Gender and #Goodhealth.
