Women in Energy and Economic Sustainability Initiative, is an organization that is passionate about integrating women into all levels of the energy value chain which includes creating career opportunity and alleviating energy poverty.

MISSION

To empower women from the bottom of the energy pyramid to the top.

OUR STRATEGY

  1. By increasing education and training of female undergraduates engineering student’s girls in high school studying STEM courses by enlightening them on the career opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
  2. By providing hands on experience, and financial support to programs that foster interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics including clean energy related career.
  3. By providing scholarship, mentoring tools, speakers and supporting school-sponsored and community based programs that foster technology and clean energy interest in girls and young women ages 12-26

OBJECTIVES

  1. To improve the quality of life of women and girls and alleviate rural poverty in the energy underserved and off-grid areas by providing basic needs such as light, safe drinking water and irrigation water systems, and clean cooking system, through affordable and reliable source of energy.
  2. To increase education and training of  female students in the university and high school studying STEM courses and enlightening them on the career opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
  3. To encourage women and girls entrepreneurship in the area of sustainable energy through economic and social empowerment.
  4. To include women and girls as participants in energy planning and development for productive use.
  5. To encourage active participation of women and girls in project conception and implementation to ensure that their needs are effectively addressed in the areas of safe drinking water, health, agricultural production, irrigation for farming, clean cooking and appliances.
  6. To improve the access rural schools and health clinics has to solar generated electricity.
  7. To train women and girls in Installation, maintenance and repair of solar photovoltaic system and the production of improved cook stoves.
